On March 11, 2011, a catastrophic earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck off the coast of Japan, killing thousands, displacing countless more, and unleashing a nuclear environmental disaster that’s still unfolding in horrifying ways. Life in LoFi blog and the iPhoneogenic blog have teamed up to present this gallery of iPhoneographers from Japan and to help raise funds for relief efforts in Japan.

Both Marty and I received this email from iPhoneographer Robert Herold today:
“I was completely shocked by the earthquake & tsunami in Japan. The bad news about possible nuclear disaster just worsen everything. From the beginning of the happenings I was hardly able to deal with any iPhoneography related thing. I was astonished by the fact that some of the iPhoneographers in Japan have not showen any sign of life yet. What I was thinking is how to do anything to support our iPhoneographer friends in Japan.”
Many of us are touched directly, either through friends and relatives. Many more are touched indirectly through the iPhoneographic community. Regardless, it’s hard not to be moved when watching the powerful videos of tsunami sweeping away towns, buildings, cars — people’s livelihoods and lives. You can help.
