ImageBlocks: It’s hip to be suqare!

First strongly introduced by good ‘ol Hipstamatic, square formatted images are flourishing. If you take a look around the iPhoneography landscape over the past year, square formatted images seem to be the dominate format users prefer.  Many folks are taking to Instagram for posting and sharing their square formatted images. With that, many printing services have developed as a result.

Scott Taylor, founder of the Melbourne based start-up, Image Blocks, has introduced a great printing service that will be sure to suit your square ready needs.

The square image(s) of your choice is printed onto an aluminum plate then mounted to a hand-cut recycled Jarrah wooden block. The Image Block measures 4 x 4 inches (roughly 10.2 x 10.2 centimeters). On the back is an aluminum plate featuring the Image Blocks logo and a hole drilled into it for convenient hanging. Both the aluminum and wood are of great quality and meant to last. The image printed on the aluminum is rich in color and of excellent quality, I’m quite impressed with the vibrancy and sharpness of the images I received from Image Blocks.

Think about picking up a few of these just in time for the holidays, they make an excellent gift for anyone. You may want to showcase your blocks on a wall or display them on a self or desk in the office. Buy a series of 3 or more blocks to create a panoramic scene or stack them on top of one another.

Each Image Block is about $32 AUD, that’s about $34 USD, £22.00. The blocks are shipped from Australia.
