Distressed FX Review + Giveaway!

Distressed FX

Create mesmerizing and elegant artwork from your mobile photos with Distressed FX!

Distressed FX allows you to recreate the look and feel of Cheryl Tarrant’s work, who’s a fine art texture artist and the co-creator of this dazzling texture and overlay app.

Unlike most texture apps in Distressed FX all the textures and overlays are useable. They’re elegant and subtle, crafted in efforts not to overpower your original image but still enough to give you that distinct Tarrant signature style. You can also turn down the opacity to create variations of textures and overlays to develop your own distinct style within a style.

The app also allows you to adjust brightness, contrast and saturation all implemented in a user friendly interface. Another gem within the app is the blur feature which allows you to add Tilt-Shift Generator like blurs such as circular and linear blur effects. Importing and saving are a cinch. Both are located in the top left and right hand corners respectively. The texture can be accessed while the checker-board is showing and the overlays (filters) can be accessed while the Vin-diagram is showing. Scroll through each texture and overlay or combine them to create hundreds of combinations.

Overall, the app is a real promising tool suitable for all types mobile artists although as the developer suggests it’s particularly suited to still life and landscape photography, I beg to differ. Pick it up, at $0.99 you won’t be disappointed.

  4. Hi the app is cool indeed. I hope the dev will make an effort to improve saving resolution which is currently based on iPhone 4 (2048×2048) and maybe allow for standard 4:3 format rather than just square. But it’s so hip to be square right ? :)
