Welcome to another installment of the longest running curated monthly collection of mobile photography and imagery.
Know that saying April showers bring May flowers? Well, in April we certainly witnessed a down pour of awesome work which in turn must of inspired a boom of creativity during the month of May. There was an abundance of sheer brilliance shared in our Flickr group, so much in fact iPho enlisted the help of one, Susan Tuttle, to sort out the top 31 contenders.
Susan is a wonderful mobile artist in her own right and a dear friend of the blog. I truly appreciate her taking the reigns this month and producing a collection iPho is proud to share with you.
Here are a few words from Susan:
I was thrilled when Edi invited me to be guest curator for this month’s iPhone0genic selections! And let me tell you, it was not an easy job, by any means. So much talent out there folks! — making it hard to narrow down my selections to a pool of 31. This process has given me a greater appreciation for all of the hard work that Edi does each month on various aspects of iPhone0genic, from artist features and stories, to bringing us current information and tips on the latest apps, trends, and opportunities in the mobile photography/mobile art world. In addition to establishing and running this stellar mobile photo/art resource, Edi is a talented mobile photographer in his own right. I was happy to have the job of curator this month so that I could feature a stellar piece of his!
I choose Cedric Blanchon’s ‘Untitled’ black and white portrait as this month’s lead image. Aside from the technically genius aspects of this photo, including his creative use of side-lighting and dramatic black and white toning, this piece just gets me in the gut! Actually, I tend to have that same reaction whenever I look at any of Cedric’s portraits. If you are not familiar with his work, you must check it out!
This month’s selections include a variety of subject matter, styles, toning, and moods. Something for everyone I hope. Thank you to all who have submitted this month; you made the selection process quite challenging for me:)! Congratulations to the selected artists! Very inspiring work you have shared with all of us. And thanks again Edi for this opportunity! Always a pleasure my friend!
The pleasure is all mine, Susan. Thank you for your vigilant work all month long!
